A suspected drug dealer was arrested on Tuesday afternoon during an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Toclong, Kawit, Cavite, according to police.
Authorities identified the suspect only by the alias “JR,” a resident of Barangay Navarro, General Trias, Cavite.
He was apprehended at around 1:55 p.m. after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected crystal methamphetamine, or “shabu,” to an undercover officer.
The buy-bust operation was carried out by the Drugs Enforcement Unit and intelligence operatives of the Kawit Municipal Police Station, led by Police Captain Ernesto G. Monasterial II and under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Resty E. Soriano. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region IV-A also assisted in the operation.
Police said the suspect was informed of his rights under the Miranda Doctrine in a language he understood. He is currently in police custody for documentation and further legal proceedings.
The Kawit police said the operation is part of their intensified campaign to combat illegal drugs and other forms of criminality in the area.
“This accomplishment sends a strong message to the public to refrain from engaging in illegal drug activities,” PLTCOL Soriano said in a statement.
