Police arrested a suspected drug dealer in Kawit town during a buy-bust operation on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal narcotics in the province, authorities said.
The suspect, known by the alias “Riel,” a resident of Barangay 2, Dalahican, Cavite City, was apprehended after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected methamphetamine, or “shabu,” to undercover officers.
The operation was carried out at around 2:45 p.m. in Barangay Magdalo Putol by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit and intelligence operatives, led by PCpt. Ernesto G. Monasterial II, under the supervision of PLtCol. Resty E. Soriano, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region IV-A.
Police said the suspect was read his rights under the Miranda doctrine in a language he understood and was brought to the Kawit police station for documentation and further investigation.
The operation is part of the local police’s intensified anti-crime drive, which aims to suppress criminal activities and maintain public safety.
“This accomplishment serves as a stern warning to those involved in illegal drugs,” said PLtCol. Soriano. “We will continue our relentless efforts to keep our communities safe.”
The suspect will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
