Silang, Cavite – Philippine authorities arrested 29 foreign nationals, including three undocumented South Koreans, during a raid on a resort in Cavite province as part of a crackdown on illegal offshore gaming operations.
The joint operation conducted by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), and Bureau of Immigration targeted the Elijosh Resort in Barangay Lalaan 2, Silang town.
Among those detained were 23 Chinese nationals, six Myanmar citizens, and three South Koreans who lacked proper documentation, authorities said.
The raid followed intelligence reports of suspicious activities at the resort, which was allegedly being used as a base for illegal online gambling operations. Police seized numerous laptops and portable Wi-Fi devices used in the operations.
The Bureau of Immigration has initiated deportation proceedings against the arrested foreigners for immigration violations.
Resort operators could face criminal charges for allegedly harboring illegal aliens, an offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment under the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
The operation is part of ongoing government efforts to crack down on illegal activities by undocumented foreigners, particularly those involved in unauthorized online gambling operations.
