History
The Battle of Alapan was fought on May 28, 1898, and was the first military victory of the Filipino Revolutionaries led by Emilio Aguinaldo after his return to the Philippines from Hong Kong. The battle occurred between 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., involving approximately 270 Spanish Marines.
Following the Philippine Revolutionary Army’s victory over Spanish forces, the Philippine flag was first unfurled on May 28, 1898, though it was not formally presented to the people until June 12, 1898.

The celebration marks the beginning of National Flag Days and the lead-up to Independence Day celebrations on June 12.
