BACOOR CITY, Cavite — Authorities arrested a high-value drug suspect during a buy-bust operation late Monday night in Barangay Panapaan 1, Bacoor City, seizing an estimated P240,000 worth of marijuana.
According to the Cavite Police Provincial Office, the joint operation was conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and the Bacoor City Police Station at around 11:50 p.m. on May 26, 2025.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Niño,” a resident of Barangay Talaba 4, was caught selling illegal drugs.
Police confiscated four vacuum-sealed plastic packs containing approximately 2,000 grams of suspected dried marijuana fruiting tops.
Authorities said the operation complied with Philippine National Police operational procedures and used an alternative recording device to ensure transparency and the protection of human rights. The suspect was also informed of his constitutional rights.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Bacoor police and faces charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“This arrest is a result of our relentless efforts to rid communities of illegal drugs,” said Col. Dwight E. Alegre, acting provincial director of the Cavite PPO. “Every success in our campaign against drugs is a step toward a safer community.”
Police said the operation was in line with the directive of PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil to intensify anti-drug and anti-crime initiatives under the administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign.
