TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The Provincial Government of Cavite held a two-day agricultural trade fair May 15-16 to promote the province’s farming industry and provide marketing opportunities for local producers.

The Provincial Agri Trade Fair cum Kadiwa ng Pangulo, organized by the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, drew farmers, fisherfolk and agricultural exhibitors from across Cavite to the OPA Compound in Trece Martires City.

The event opened with a mass celebrating the feast of Saint Isidore the Labrador, the patron saint of farmers and agriculture, officiated by the Rev. Ross Layugan.

“Agriculture provides food security for the community,” said Engr. Anna Pamela Nova-Cruz, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Agriculturist office, in her welcome message.

Representatives from multiple government agencies participated, including Dr. May Magno, Cavite provincial veterinarian; Ms. Lilibeth Chavez, officer-in-charge provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry-Cavite; and Ms. Marivic Martinez, director of the Department of Labor and Employment.

Vice Gov. Shernan Jaro praised the farmers’ continued efforts to provide affordable, nutritious food for residents.

“I commend the farmers who continue to fight to promote and provide nutritious and affordable food for our fellow Caviteños,” Jaro said in Filipino.

The fair featured exhibit booths showcasing fresh produce and agricultural goods, aimed at strengthening connections among industry stakeholders and boosting productivity in the agricultural sector.

The event’s theme was “Masiglang Negosyo at Maunlad na Kalakalan, Susi sa Pagkamit ng Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita” (Dynamic Business and Progressive Trade, Key to Achieving Abundant Harvest and Higher Income).
