Governor Remulla Leads Distribution of Supplies to Strengthen Community Security
INDANG, Cavite – Capitol officials on Monday distributed vital supplies to over 2,300 community guards, or “Barangay Tanods,” in Cavite’s 7th district to bolster their capacity to respond to security concerns.
The event at the Indang Municipal Covered Court saw Governor Jonvic Remulla handing out essential kits, comprising vests, batons, whistles, gloves, and caps, to Tanods from the municipalities of Indang, Tanza, Amadeo, and Trece Martires City.
Philippine authorities view the Barangay Tanods as crucial force multipliers in maintaining public order, with PTLCOL Joven T. Bahil, Chief of the Cavite Police Provincial Office’s Police Community Affairs Development Unit (PCADU), expressing confidence in their role.
“Our police force believes that our Tanods, despite their modest honorarium, are selfless and unwavering in their service to their community and countrymen,” Bahil said.
The distribution was attended by 7th District Congressman Crispin Diego “Ping” Remulla, Board Member Francisco Gabriel “Abeng” Remulla, Indang Mayor Perfecto V. Fidel, and Tanza Vice Mayor Archangelo B. Matro, underscoring local government leaders’ commitment to supporting the Barangay Tanod.
The initiative recognizes the Tanods’ invaluable contributions as first responders and aims to empower them in maintaining peace and security in their communities.
