Teenager Swept Away by Strong Waves in Cavite Found Dead

NAIC, Cavite — A 15-year-old student who allegedly skipped class to drink with friends along the beach in Naic, Cavite, was swept away by strong waves and found dead on Friday, authorities said.

According to officials, the student and his classmates had agreed to skip class to drink along the shoreline of Barangay Bucana on Thursday. While they were drinking, they were suddenly hit by large waves, and the victim went missing around 3:30 p.m.

A search and rescue operation was launched by the Philippine Coast Guard, but it failed to locate the victim.

On Friday morning, PCG rescuers and Bantay Dagat personnel found the victim’s lifeless body floating along the shoreline. Six of the victim’s classmates survived the incident.

The incident occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
