Police Arrest Suspect in Imus Extortion Case

IMUS, Cavite — Police in Imus, Cavite province, arrested a suspect Friday in connection with an alleged robbery extortion incident, authorities said.

The suspect, identified only as “Rommel,” is accused of extorting 300 pesos from a motorist during a traffic stop on June 27. A video of the alleged incident was sent anonymously to the Cavite Police Provincial Office.

Lt. Col. Louie D. Dionglay, officer-in-charge of the Imus Component City Police Station, ordered a manhunt operation following the complaint, leading to the suspect’s arrest. The extorted money was not recovered.

Authorities filed a robbery complaint against the suspect at the Imus City Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect remains in police custody.

Col. Ricardo Jr., provincial director of Cavite PNP, praised the quick response of the Imus police. He urged the victim to cooperate with authorities to strengthen the case against the suspect.

Police officials emphasized their commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring justice for victims.
