2 PH Navy Pilots Killed in Chopper Crash in Cavite City

Two pilots from the Philippine Navy were killed after their training helicopter crashed near a public market in Cavite City at around 7AM yesterday. The victims were conducting a training flight before the helicopter went down.

The pilots were rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, they did not survive. The deceased pilots were identified as Lt. Jan Kyle Borres and Ens. Izzah Taccad, both from the Naval Air Wing.

The Navy has temporarily grounded all training helicopters while an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. The Robinson R22 trainer, apparently the last in the Navy’s inventory, had to make an emergency landing at the vicinity of Cavite City Public Market.

The Navy has extended its condolences to the families of the two casualties and said that all necessary support will be extended to them. The remains of the pilots were brought to the Libingan ng Mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, where they were laid to rest with full military honors.
