KAWIT, Cavite — Police arrested a suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kanluran late Tuesday, authorities said.
The suspect, identified only as “Jo,” was taken into custody around 11:20 p.m. after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected methamphetamine, or “shabu,” to an undercover officer, according to Lt. Col. Kristine V. Paras, officer-in-charge of the Kawit Municipal Police Station.
Officers from the station’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4-A.
The suspect faces charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which covers the sale and possession of illegal drugs.
Paras said the arrest is part of ongoing law enforcement efforts targeting illegal drugs, loose firearms and terrorism under the Philippine National Police’s seven-point agenda.
The suspect is a resident of Barangay Kanluran, police said.
