BACOOR, Cavite — Long known as the “Gateway to Cavite,” Bacoor has played a pivotal role in the province’s history and economic growth for more than three centuries.
The city’s place in Philippine history is firmly established. It was a backdrop to the 1872 Cavite Mutiny, served as the first capital of Emilio Aguinaldo’s revolutionary government in 1898, and witnessed key events during both the Philippine-American War and World War II. These moments helped cement Bacoor’s identity as a historic stronghold in southern Luzon.
Since its conversion into a city in 2012, Bacoor has undergone rapid urban transformation. Once largely a suburban spillover of Metro Manila, it has developed into a vibrant economic hub, driven by growth in retail, banking, services, and residential sectors.
Major commercial centers such as SM City Bacoor and SM City Molino have spurred local commerce, while traditional markets and bustling business districts in areas like Talaba and Zapote continue to thrive.

Bacoor Boulevard, the city’s main economic artery, has become a symbol of its modernization. The corridor is lined with malls, automobile dealerships, upscale subdivisions and the Bacoor Government Center.
These developments are reinforced by major road projects and expressways, including the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and forthcoming improvements from the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, which will extend rail service from Pasay City into Bacoor.
City officials say these infrastructure upgrades will further boost Bacoor’s connectivity—not only to Metro Manila but also to the rest of Cavite. Large-scale developments, including the planned Villar City, are expected to transform the area into a regional commercial and lifestyle destination.
With its strategic location, expanding transport links and urban planning initiatives, Bacoor is positioning itself not just as a residential gateway to the capital but as a key player in Cavite’s emergence as a modern, interconnected metropolis.
