The confiscated items, which included 918 pieces of “BOGA” fireworks, were seized in various cities and towns across the province, including Carmona, Imus, Bacoor, Dasmarinas, General Trias, Trece Martires, Tagaytay, and Cavite City, as well as in the municipalities of Alfonso, Amadeo, Ternate, Indang, Kawit, Magallanes, Maragondon, General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Mariano Alvarez, Mendez, Naic, Noveleta, Rosario, Silang, and Tanza.
Other types of illegal fireworks destroyed included whistle bombs, baby rockets, piccolo, luces, glowing wire, kwitis, sawa, sinturon ni Hudas, five stars, crying cow, triangulo, and fountain.
The intensified campaign against illegal fireworks is part of the “LIGTAS PASKUHAN 2024” initiative, which prioritizes public safety over business interests, according to Cavite Police Director PCOL Dwight Alegre.
Business owners who violated local ordinances related to Republic Act 7183, which regulates the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices, were fined P20,000 pesos.
