GEN. TRIAS, Cavite — The city has reminded the public of its ban on firecrackers and pyrotechnics, citing City Ordinance No. 20-66, which was approved on Oct. 28, 2020.
The ordinance strictly prohibits the sale, distribution, possession, and use of firecrackers, pyrotechnic devices, and similar items within the city.
Violators will face penalties, including fines and imprisonment. For a first offense, individuals can be fined P1,000 pesos or imprisoned for up to one month, or both, at the discretion of the court. The court may also confiscate all banned items in the individual’s possession.
Subsequent offenses carry stiffer penalties: a second offense can result in a fine of P3,000 pesos or up to three months’ imprisonment, while a third offense can lead to a fine of P5,000 pesos or up to six months’ imprisonment.
The city government encourages residents to celebrate the New Year safely by using alternative noise-making devices, such as horns and drums, or by attending the city’s community fireworks display. Families can also come together to celebrate and enjoy music and other activities.
In case of emergencies, residents can contact the following numbers: 409 7303 or 0919 066 4269 (City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office), 437 7625 or 0919 066 4274 (Bureau of Fire Protection), 437 7306 or 0919 066 4281 (Philippine National Police), and 509 5289 (City Health Office).
The city government’s campaign, “BIDAangMayDisiplina” (Disciplined Citizen), aims to promote a safer and more peaceful community. Residents are encouraged to join forces with the city government to achieve this goal.
