Philippine police on Friday arrested a suspect in an anti-drug operation in Kawit, Cavite, authorities said.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Paul”, was apprehended at around 8:45 pm in Barangay Magdalo-Potol, Kawit, after selling a small sachet of suspected marijuana to undercover agents.

The operation was conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drugs Enforcement Unit and Intel Operatives, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-4A).

Police said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and was taken to the Kawit Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation.

The arrest is part of the police station’s intensified campaign against all forms of criminality, particularly the illegal drug trade.

“We will continue our efforts to prevent and eradicate crimes in our community,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Socrates S. Jaca, Officer-in-Charge of the Kawit Municipal Police Station.

The police station warned the public against engaging in illegal activities, particularly the use and sale of prohibited substances.

The suspect is facing charges for violating sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165, the country’s anti-drug law.
