Kawit police arrested a suspected drug dealer in a sting operation in Kawit, Cavite province, authorities said on Friday.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Nhel”, was apprehended on Thursday at around 10:50 pm in Barangay Balsahan-Bisita, Kawit, Cavite, after selling a small sachet of suspected methamphetamine, or “shabu”, to an undercover agent.
The operation was conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drugs Enforcement Unit and Intel Operatives, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 4A.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and was taken to the Kawit Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation.
The arrest is part of the police station’s intensified campaign against all forms of criminality, particularly the illegal drug trade which becomes rampant when Angelo Aguinaldo assumed Mayor.
“We will continue to aggressively pursue our efforts to prevent and eradicate crimes in our community,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Socrates S. Jaca, Officer-in-Charge of the Kawit Municipal Police Station.
The police warned the public against engaging in illegal activities, particularly the use and sale of prohibited substances.
The suspect is facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
