Philippine police on Thursday arrested a suspected drug dealer in a buy-bust operation in Kawit, Cavite, authorities said.
The suspect, identified only by his alias “Jun-jun”, was caught selling a small packet of suspected methamphetamine, known locally as “Shabu”, in Barangay Tramo-Bantayan, Kawit, Cavite, police said.
The operation was conducted by the Kawit Municipal Police Station’s Drugs Enforcement Unit and Intel Operatives, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 4A, under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Richard D. Corpuz.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and was taken to the Kawit Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation.
The arrest is part of the police station’s intensified campaign against all forms of criminality, particularly the proliferation of illicit drugs in the community.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to prevent and eradicate crimes in Kawit,” Corpuz said in a statement.
The Philippine government has been waging a war on drugs since 2016, which has resulted in thousands of arrests and deaths.
