Imusicapella Wins Grand Prix at International Choir Competition

DEBRECEN, Hungary — Imusicapella, the official choir of the Imus Cathedral and St. Peregrine Chapel, won the Grand Prix at the 29th Béla Bartók International Choir Competition held from Aug. 1-4, 2024.

The group also took second place in the Sacred Category, third prize in the Free Category, and a special prize for Outstanding Interpretation of a Choral Work in the Church Music Category.

This victory marks the group’s second time to represent the country in the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing, which they will compete in again in 2025.

Imusicapella was founded in 2002 by Tristan Caliston Ignacio, who is also the group’s current conductor. The choir is composed of 20 members, including Ravia Leigh Macario, Keanna Chloe Navarro, and Stephen John Raymundo, among others.
