CAVITE CITY: A unique initiative has been launched by Barangay 58M-Patola in Cavite City, offering free food and movie screenings for senior citizens.

The program, which began three weeks ago, aims to provide a respite from the sweltering heat that has gripped the city.

The seniors gather in a cool and comfortable location within the barangay to enjoy a variety of films while partaking in complimentary meals.

The excitement begins at noon, as the elderly residents of Brgy. 58M-Patola start to arrive to watch romantic and comedic films. The thrilling and dramatic movies elicit cheers from the audience, who leave with smiles on their faces, clearly indicating their enjoyment.

The program was designed to alleviate the discomfort experienced by the elderly during the current heatwave. Cavite City has recorded the highest temperatures in recent days.

Approximately 330 senior citizens in Brgy. Patola are set to benefit from this initiative, led by Brgy. Capt. Rizaldy Consigo. This is the first barangay in the city to implement such a program.

“This is a simple way to bring joy to our senior citizens. Let’s make them comfortable every day. Let them relax while watching their favorite movies,” said Consigo.

Three movies are screened each day, and the seniors can enjoy free popcorn, pizza, noodles, and bread while watching. The program is also open to neighboring barangays.
