Cavite Governor Warns Public of Fake Social Media Accounts

CAVITE — Cavite Provincial Governor Athena Tolentino issued a public advisory Wednesday warning constituents about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating her official profiles.

The governor cautioned the public against fake accounts using her name and image to solicit money or promote investment schemes.

She urged citizens not to share personal information or engage with suspicious accounts claiming to be her.

Tolentino’s legitimate social media presence includes verified accounts on Facebook (@athenatin.tolentino) and Instagram (@athena.tolentino).

The advisory specifically warned users to disregard communications from unauthorized email addresses, including one Gmail account purporting to be from her management team.

The warning comes amid growing concerns about social media scams targeting Filipino citizens through impersonation of public officials.

Officials encourage the public to verify social media accounts through official verification badges and registered handles before engaging with any government-related profiles.
