SILANG, Cavite — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) launched its voter education campaign in Silang on Tuesday, Jan. 7, as part of its third series of voter education programs in the town.
The campaign aims to educate voters on the use of Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) that will be used in the upcoming elections.
Under the supervision of Silang Election Officer Aries Cortez, select residents were given the opportunity to try voting using the new ACMs.
COMELEC officials explained that while undervoting, or voting for fewer candidates than allowed, will be permitted, overvoting, or voting for more candidates than allowed, will not be allowed and will result in invalidation of the vote.
According to Cortez, overvoting will not be tolerated as it will render the vote invalid.
The voter education campaign is part of COMELEC’s efforts to ensure that voters are informed and prepared for the upcoming elections. The use of ACMs is intended to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the voting process.
COMELEC is conducting voter education campaigns across the country to educate voters on the use of new voting technology, including ACMs. The campaigns aim to reduce errors and improve the overall voting experience.
Silang is one of the areas where COMELEC is conducting its voter education programs.
