Love Story of a Lifetime: Fruit Vendor and Vegetable Vendor Tie the Knot After 25 Years Together
Rosario, Cavite – A fruit vendor and a vegetable vendor, who have been together for 25 years, finally tied the knot on January 8, 2025, at the Rosario, Cavite Municipal Hall.
Julius Balawang Diego, 62, a fruit vendor from San Antonio, Northern Samar, and Nelia Walog Aranas, 53, a vegetable vendor from Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, have been living in Brgy. Ligtong 3, Rosario, Cavite.
The couple shared their story of how they met. In 1998, Diego was a pizza vendor and Aranas was a vegetable vendor in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite. They would often cross paths, and Diego would often look at Aranas with interest.
One day, Diego finally approached Aranas and asked if she had a boyfriend and if she could go on a date. Aranas agreed, and they started dating.
Their love story was like a movie, with a romantic and dramatic plot that made Aranas fall for Diego. They even watched a romantic movie together on Valentine’s Day in 1998, which sealed their fate.
Before getting married, they already had four children, three girls and one boy.
“I never had a girlfriend except for Inday. I don’t know why, but I was too focused on selling fruits and it seemed like I lost track of my feelings. Maybe Inday was destined to be my partner and the mother of our four children. Inday is amazing, and I love her so much…,” Diego said.
The couple exchanged vows in front of many witnesses, promising to be together in good times and bad, and in happiness and sorrow.
The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Pastor Yoyong Escultor.
