Philippine police on Saturday announced the arrest of a suspect in the killing of a 28-year-old seafarer in Kawit, Cavite, bringing relief to the victim’s family and community.
The suspect, known by his alias “Jayson”, was apprehended on Friday during a hot pursuit operation in Imus City, Cavite, according to PLTCOL Socrates S. Jaca, Officer-in-Charge of the Kawit Municipal Police Station.
The victim, a resident of Cavite City, was shot dead by motorcycle-riding suspects on December 4 while driving his motorcycle along Kalayaan Road in Kawit, Cavite.
The suspect’s confession led to the identification of his alleged cohort, known as “Michael”, who remains at large.
“We are committed to solving crimes and protecting our citizens from harm,” Jaca said, adding that the successful arrest demonstrates the police’s dedication to bringing perpetrators to justice.
The suspect is currently in custody and will face charges pending further investigation.
