Bacoor, Cavite – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bacoor has issued a stern warning to its residents to be vigilant against the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF), a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects pigs.

According to the LGU, ASF is a viral disease that causes fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and eventually death in pigs. It is highly contagious and can be spread through direct contact with infected pigs, contaminated food and water, and through vectors such as flies and ticks.

The LGU has called on residents to be aware of the symptoms of ASF and report any suspected cases to the Office of Veterinary Services.

Residents are also advised to keep a safe distance from pigs that show signs of illness, avoid consuming pork products from infected pigs, ensure proper disposal of pig waste and carcasses, and wash hands thoroughly after handling pigs or their waste.

The Office of Veterinary Services has been designated as the focal point for reporting suspected cases of ASF. Residents can reach them at 0966-827-0252.

The Bacoor PNP has also been alerted to be on the lookout for any suspected cases of ASF. Residents can report any suspected cases to the PNP at 0977-752-0819 or 0998-598-5593.

The LGU has urged residents to join the fight against ASF by being vigilant and taking preventive measures. “Let’s work together to protect our pigs and our community from this deadly disease,” said a spokesperson for the LGU.
