A fire broke out in Barangay Pulvorista, Kawit, Cavite early Thursday morning, affecting several houses and establishments in the area.

The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. and was declared under control by 3:51 a.m. by the Kawit Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

According to Kawit Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo, who posted a fire alert on his Facebook page, the fire started at a junk shop and quickly spread to nearby structures.

He urged residents to stay away from the fire scene and assured them that the local government and the BFP were taking action to put out the fire.

No casualties or injuries were reported as of writing, but the fire displaced hundreds of families who were evacuated to a nearby covered court. The local government also provided relief goods and assistance to the affected residents.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still being investigated by the BFP. Mayor Aguinaldo said he will update the public on the situation as soon as possible.
